LOS ANGELES AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BOARD OF DIRECTORS RECOGNIZES ACHIEVEMENTS OF REGIONAL BUSINESSES, MEMBERS AND LEADERS IN ANNUAL AWARDS


The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated the achievements, leadership and regional dedication by members in the annual Chamber awards. The award winners were selected, in four categories, by the Board of Directors and staff to recognize outstanding dedication to the region and business community.

 

Awards Presented:

  • Corporate Member of the Year award winner, Southern California Gas Co., was selected in recognition of the company’s model engagement with the Chamber, in providing outstanding volunteer leadership from their employees and throughout the organization. This year, the Chamber’s efforts were led by SoCalGas vice president, Denita Willoughby, who served as our 2020 Board chair. SoCalGas was an instrumental partner with the Chamber’s first-ever virtual job fair, which had over 2,000 registrants, also in providing their expertise in procurement to ONELA, a Chamber program assisting small businesses in obtaining large and public vendor contracts, and in fostering civic leadership through our training program’s. They have been a valuable partner, demonstrating their immeasurable commitment to the region.
  • Small Business Member of the Year award winner, Yucca Restaurants, was selected in acknowledgement for their resilience and innovation in addressing the challenges brought on by the pandemic, which hit the restaurant and hospitality industries hardest. Business owner, Dora Herrera quickly pivoted their business model by establishing a take-out format and leveraging social media to market the restaurant. Yucca’s also found themselves on the frontlines in feeding first responders in the community. When tough times hit the restaurant industry, Yucca’s pivoted and continue to support their community.

  • Ambassador of the Year, Michael Castiglione, owner of Sandler Training, was selected for exemplary volunteerism. The Ambassador of the Year demonstrated commitment to the Chamber. As the Chamber reimagined its work with members, Michael was active in helping members continue to engage, connect and network in a virtual format. The popular virtual mixers have been a highlight for fostering new business development connections.

  • Member of the Year, Mike Silacci, Assistant Vice President of External Affairs with AT&T California, was selected for his dedication and leadership through his service to the L.A. Area Chamber. A committed member of the Chamber’s Executive Committee, a leader of the our Innovation & Technology Council, including a number of Board committees. Mr. Silacci generously provides his expertise to support the work of the Chamber. His valuable insight and guidance has been critical in a year when the pandemic presented so many challenges.
