L.A. AREA CHAMBER COMMENTS ON GOVERNOR NEWSOM’S ANNOUNCEMENT OF STATEWIDE JUNE 15 REOPENING

LOS ANGELES, CA – APRIL 7, 2021 – Yesterday, Governor Newsom announced California’s new projected goal of having the state’s economy fully opened by June 15, 2021. The move represents a major step forward toward helping the economy recover. The L.A. Area Chamber is excited for businesses to finally have the opportunity to return to full capacity which will facilitate the recovery of our state’s economy.

In response to the announcement, President and CEO of the L.A. Area Chamber of Commerce, Maria S. Salinas, said, “COVID-19 has been wreaking havoc on our communities and the economy. Businesses have been anxious for a definitive end of mandated closures and capacity limits, and for signs of hope for a full-fledged recovery. June 15th marks that day.”

“The business community has been flexible enough to pivot and find innovative solutions to keep their employees and customers safe, all while working to keep their businesses afloat. We cannot wait to show the world the Los Angles region’s strength, resilience, and influence,” said Salinas. “With Los Angeles poised to come back stronger than before, the impact of its full reopening will be substantially felt. Although there is still work to be done, we look forward to continuing our work with the Governor and other elected officials to safely facilitate California’s successful reopening.”
