L.A. AREA CHAMBER CONGRATULATES ALBERTO M. CARVALHO: THE NEXT SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS OF THE LOS ANGELES UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT (LAUSD)

LOS ANGELES, CA – December 9, 2021 – In their board meeting earlier today, LAUSD announced its selection of Alberto M. Carvalho, who previously served as head of Miami-Dade Schools, as Superintendent for L.A. Unified. L.A. Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Maria S. Salinas released the following statement in response to Superintendent Carvalho’s appointment:
“The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce congratulates Mr. Alberto Carvalho on his selection as LAUSD’s next Superintendent,” Salinas said. “The Chamber looks forward to his leadership to ensure the educational success of Los Angeles’ students. His experience as an educator and administrator with a history of working to lift up underserved communities with a focus on equity will ensure that all our students thrive. The Chamber is excited to engage and partner with LAUSD and Superintendent Carvalho in this next chapter. The success of our students and their ability to reach their academic potential is essential as we emerge from the pandemic and prepare the workforce of the next generation. ”
