L.A. AREA CHAMBER RESPONDS TO L.A. COUNTY EASEMENT OF CERTAIN MASKING REQUIREMENTS

LOS ANGELES, CA – February 24, 2022 – In an updated Public Health Officer Order, Los Angeles County announced that individuals who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will be able to remove their masks in select indoor establishments, businesses, or venues in Los Angeles County upon proof of vaccination. The revised updates and implementation will take effect at 12:01AM on Friday, February 23. Locations without vaccine verification will remain subject to the county’s standing indoor mask guidelines; and the mandate is applicable to all residents, regardless of vaccination status.

"I’m pleased that L.A. County recognized the importance of easing masking requirements in a first step towards aligning with state policy. It alleviates additional burdens on businesses who are ready to move beyond the pandemic,” said Maria S. Salinas, President and CEO of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce. "This is a major step forward, especially for the businesses which have been hit hardest by the pandemic, like restaurants, bars, and others, who now have the opportunity to fully take part in our economic recovery. The business community and the residents of L.A. County have worked hard to abide by health guidelines in response to COVID-19, and this is welcomed news."
