LOS ANGELES, CA – July 22, 2022 – As possible mask mandates loom over L.A. County, Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, President and CEO Maria S. Salinas released the following statement:
"With the possibility of reinstatement of a mask mandate in L.A. County, the impact to businesses already struggling to emerge from the pandemic is significant. Over the past two years, the business community has been instrumental in containing the spread of COVID-19, by promoting workplace safety precautions, complying with public health orders, and supporting access to vaccinations in underserved communities. We appreciate the efforts of the Board of Supervisors and L.A. County Public Health, but it’s time to recognize, COVID-19 will not be eliminated completely, and we must shift from pandemic to endemic strategies with sensible policies. We can’t keep fighting COVID with the same strategies we used two years ago. We must recognize that our communities, economy, and public health system have evolved. We will continue to advocate for responsible COVID policies which recognize the importance of maintaining our economic recovery, as well as our safety."
