L.A. AREA CHAMBER JOINS UNITED AGAINST HATE WEEK
November 14, 2022
LOS ANGELES – Nov. 14, 2022 – Today, Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Maria S. Salinas joined the L.A. County Human Relations Commission, L.A. vs. Hate, and community leaders at a press conference at the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration to kick off the annual United Against Hate Week.
“The Chamber is proud to work with the Commission on Human Relations’ L.A. vs. Hate initiative. Together, we recognize the importance of supporting our small businesses in finding ways to promote our common ideals of diversity, equity and inclusion which contributes towards a thriving regional economy. When we work together, we can build an economy which creates upward economic mobility for the region’s workforce and promotes business growth for all type of employers — small or large. With these goals in mind, the Chamber is proud to join a diverse coalition of business and community partners to address the division in our communities today.
“We are united with residents in stamping out hate in all its forms — and whether it’s in or out of the workplace — we must do better to build an equitable economy which allows all to thrive. This may sound aspirational, but the goal of addressing the complex issues facing this region is the driving force behind many of the Chamber’s programs, including the OneLA Inclusive Procurement, Small Business Strong, and Resilient Business Advising programs. When Angelenos are united, there is nothing we cannot achieve,” stated Maria S. Salinas, president and CEO of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce.
United Against Hate Week runs from November 13 - 19 and is intended to urge local communities to reject hate and bigotry and promote inclusion through a unique, community-building blend of art, social media, and educational resources. The annual event is part of LA vs. Hate — a project of the L.A. County Human Relations Commission. Chamber President and CEO, Ms. Salinas was named as an United Against Hate Week Honorary Co-Chair.
