LOS ANGELES (Sept. 25, 2023) — The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following statement after the Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers reached a tentative agreement to end the 146-day strike:
“The Chamber is pleased by the tentative resolution reached to end the Writers Guild of America strike. Now, we must focus on finding a resolution to the Screen Actors Guild strike as well. With permitted movie and television shooting down nearly 70%, this standstill has greatly affected the regional economy and the many small businesses who rely upon the entertainment industry to keep their doors open. Let’s use this moment of unity to contemplate what recovery may look like to strengthen our regional economy,” stated Maria S. Salinas, President and CEO, Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce.
