LOS ANGELES (Jan. 11, 2024) — Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following statement in response to California Governor Gavin Newsom’s 2024-25 budget proposal.
“Governor Newsom’s budget proposal considers the economic imbalance we are experiencing in today’s economy, noting a deficit of $37.86 billion and reflects a measured approach to a balanced proposed budget. We were pleased to see continued investments in infrastructure, education and workforce development, homelessness response and housing supply with an emphasis on accountability, small businesses, and combatting retail theft.
“We are eager to work with the Governor and the state legislature as the budget moves through the process of analysis, approval and implementation to ensure an economic plan which spurs job creation and regional economic growth,” stated Maria S. Salinas, president and CEO of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce.
