LOS ANGELES, CA - FEBRUARY 15, 2024 – The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce celebrates 136 years of business leadership in the region with their annual inaugural. The exclusive event, themed, “Bringing the World Within Reach,” highlights the incredible impacts globalization can have to our local economy. Nearly 800 guests, business and civic leaders from the region will be in attendance, the event will also welcome the organization’s incoming Board chair, Janet Lamkin, senior vice president of global market and community innovation with United Airlines.
“We are excited to welcome our incoming Board chair, Janet Lamkin. As a forward-thinking leader who champions global opportunities for dynamic regions like Los Angeles, she understands the impact thinking globally can have in creating jobs, opportunity and an economy which works for all,” stated Maria S. Salinas, president and CEO, Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce.
The evening will also highlight several business and community leaders for their commitment and contributions to the region and its growth.
Awards Presented Include:
- The Distinguished Business Leader award will be presented to the co-founders of the Angel City Football Club, Julie Uhrman, Kara Nortman, and Natalie Portman. This honor is given to individuals who demonstrate extraordinary success in business and a commitment to the greater community.
- The Corporate Leadership Award is given to a company which has demonstrated exceptional business leadership and dedication to the growth and prosperity of the Los Angeles region. Our 2024 honoree is JPMorgan Chase, for their leadership and commitment to the region by helping to expand affordable housing, increase homeownership, grow small businesses, and accelerate workforce diversity.
- The Community Impact Award, is given to a partner who helps to amplify the Chamber’s work in supporting small businesses and growing the economy. This year’s honoree is the Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce (GLAAACC). Established in 1991, by a group of business owners and executives, is an organization which serves as an advocate for African American-owned business enterprises, to promote their growth and expansion into the international arena.
