L.A. Area Chamber Applauds Appointment of Interim LAPD Chief Dominic Choi

LOS ANGELES, CA - March 1, 2024 – The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce released the following statement regarding the appointment of Interim Los Angeles Police Department Chief Dominic Choi.
“We applaud Mayor Karen Bass for appointing Assistant Chief Dominic Choi as the interim police chief for the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). Interim Chief Choi's appointment marks a significant milestone in the history of the LAPD, as he becomes the 58th chief and the first of Asian descent to hold this esteemed position.
At a time when our city faces complex challenges, Mayor Bass' selection of LAPD Chief Choi is a testament to his leadership and dedication to public service. His knowledge of the department, strong character, and his belief in the importance of community engagement make him an exceptional choice to lead the department during this transitional period.
We understand law enforcement's critical role in maintaining our city's safety and security. We are keenly interested in the selection process for the next permanent chief, and we stand ready to offer our support to Mayor Bass and the Police Commission in their search for a qualified permanent candidate,” stated Maria S.
