L.A. Area Chamber Responds to Governor Newsom's Executive Order to Streamline the Rebuilding of Los Angeles Homes and Businesses


LOS ANGELES, CA – January 12, 2025 – The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following statement in response to Governor Newsom's Executive Order to suspend CEQA and Coastal Act requirements for reconstruction to help rebuild Los Angeles homes and businesses faster.

 

“The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce commends Governor Gavin Newsom for his swift action in issuing today's Executive Order, which will play a critical role in accelerating the recovery and rebuilding efforts across Los Angeles County following the devastating Southern California wildfires,” said Maria S. Salinas, president and CEO, Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce.

 

“Governor Newsom's proactive measures to suspend regulatory hurdles, will allow property owners to begin reconstruction efforts without unnecessary delays, ensuring affected families and businesses can return to their lives sooner. The directive for state agencies to identify and streamline additional permitting requirements underscores a commitment to making rebuilding safer, faster, and more affordable. We also strongly support the Governor's commitment to collaborating with the State Legislature to support the recovery and rebuilding efforts of the Los Angeles community.”
