Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Statement on LAEDC's Economic Impact Report on the 2028 Games

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following statement from President & CEO Maria S. Salinas in response to Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation’s (LAEDC) new report on the economic impact of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games:
“Los Angeles is in a period of unparalleled activity as we prepare to host the 2028 Olympics and Paralympic Games. This economic impact report reinforces what we have long anticipated: LA28 represents a once in a generation opportunity for Los Angeles. With projecting economic output of up to $40 billion and the creation of more than 200,000 jobs, the Games have the potential to strengthen our regional economy well beyond 2028.
The Chamber is working to ensure those benefits are broadly shared, particularly among the small businesses that anchor neighborhoods across Los Angeles. These are the flower shops, bakeries, and family-owned restaurant that are the fabric of Los Angeles. We launched Rally LA, with LA28 and corporate partners like Deloitte, JP Morgan Chase, AECOM, Google, and CISCO, to help small businesses prepare for these opportunities.
While the 2028 Games will be here for a few weeks, what we build around our small businesses will last generations.”
