Vice Chair Andy Park is excited to welcome you on Friday, October 24, at the Four Seasons Westlake Village for the 2025 Board Retreat, themed Playmakers: Big Plays, Bold Moves & a Bright Future. We’re looking forward to a dynamic lineup of speakers and engaging discussions as we help shape our work for 2026. | PUBLIC POLICY UPDATE |
- October 13 marked the last day for Governor Newsom to take action on state legislation on his desk. During the legislative period, there were just over 900 bills that were sent to him. Check the Policy Update for the outcome of the bills we prioritized.
- Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors passed a motion, 4 – 1, to declare a state of emergency due to immigration enforcement actions. The Chamber provided public comment in opposition.

- Mayor Bass marked the 1,000-day countdown to the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games by announcing streamlined City processes to support the execution of the Games. Read the Chamber’s statement.
- I was pleased to join the Aspen Institute Latinos & Society program in Los Angeles to explore how the 2026 FIFA World Cup can create opportunities for small businesses. Alongside Mayor Karen Bass, Kathy Schloessman of the Los Angeles Sports and Entertainment Commission, and moderated by Raul Anaya of Bank of America, we discussed how Los Angeles can leverage this global event to expand procurement, contracting, and investment opportunities for Hispanic businesses.
- Congratulations to Lendistry and Chamber Board member Everett Sands on 10 years of impact! We were thrilled that grantees from the Chamber’s Small Business Disaster Relief Fund were highlighted.
- I had the honor of presenting virtually to the International Association of University Presidents at their annual conference in Seoul, Korea. I shared the Chamber’s work in workforce development and highlighted convenings such as our upcoming Business & Education Innovation Summit.
