The Office of the United States Trade Representative welcomes the completion of negotiations on Taiwan’s accession to the WTO Agreement on Government Procurement (GPA).  Taiwan's accession will provide U.S. firms access to the extensive procurement that Taiwan will cover under the GPA.

The Ministry of the Economy of Mexico has established a new federal government agency called ProMexico that is responsible for strengthening the participation of Mexico in the international economy.

TRADE AND THE FINANCIAL CRISIS. Dr. Richard Drobnick, director of International Business, University of Southern California, discussed the implications of the global financial crisis for international trade at the Chamber's International Trade & Investment Committee meeting in November. The economy continues to slow in the United States, Europe and Japan, but is expected to bounce back in 2010, Drobnick said.

Businesses learn the basics of trade with Latin America
Representatives from the Port of Los Angeles, City National Bank and the U.S. Department of Commerce shared tips with businesses on how to do business with Latin America at the Chamber's “Trade 101: Latin America” event in partnership with SCORE in November. Topics included exporting basics, locating ideal consumer markets, intellectual property rights, local resources, movement of goods and trade financing.
