Chamber receives update on state of trade from port and airport experts

The importance of infrastructure investment in our region and the state as other ports in the country and abroad are updating their systems is key if our region wants to remain competitive, said officials at a recent joint Global Initiatives and Economy & Infrastructure Councils meeting. "Being in an ideal location is not going to be enough to keep us competitive in the future," said Jim MacLellan, Port of Los Angeles, left. "We need to make an investment in our infrastructure." MacLellan was joined by Michael Vanderbeek, Port of Long Beach, and Mark Thorpe, Los Angeles World Airports, as they discussed the opportunities and challenges facing Southern California as the major gateway of trade in the United States.
