Chamber supports Paramount as they open the gates to expansion
Last Thursday, the L.A. Area Chamber gave public comment in support of the Paramount Pictures Master Plan and accompanying applications at the L.A. City Planning Commission. Chamber staff spoke on the importance of the studio to the community, the City and the entertainment industry, including the $3.1 billion it's supposed to generate into the economy once completed. The commission voted unanimously to recommend approval of the plan. The proposal now moves on to L.A. City Council where it will be heard in the Planning and Land Use Management Committee.
BOTTOM LINE: The Chamber continues to support Paramount as they expand their presence in the community.

Chamber takes positions on November ballot measures
The Chamber Board of Directors has begun to weigh in on the measures and initiatives that will appear on the November 2016 ballot. Positions thus far include support for the Metro sales tax measure for transportation infrastructure investment and support for L.A.'s General Obligation bond for the construction of housing for the homeless, both of which are long-standing Chamber priorities. Board member appointed to lead the largest system of higher education in the nation
The Chamber congratulates board member Eloy Ortiz Oakley who was recently appointed Chancellor of the California Community Colleges (CCC), the largest system of higher education in the nation. The Chamber has been privileged to observe his leadership while serving on our board and while working on behalf of California students at the local and state levels. Oakley brings extensive higher education leadership experience to the position, including his most recent service as superintendent-president of Long Beach City College District and as regent of the University of California. BOTTOM LINE: The Chamber looks forward to working with newly appointed CCC Chancellor Eloy Ortiz Oakley to continue to improve college access and student success in our state.

Member marks fifth year of good food and good times

Workshop your way into $75 million in business tax credits
The Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) will be hosting more than 30 workshops across California into mid-August, aimed at helping businesses apply for the California Competes Tax Credit (CCTC). Starting July 25, businesses can apply for the $75 million in tax credits available. The CCTC program is open to any business planning to create new, full-time jobs in the state, regardless of size or location. Throughout the 2016-17 fiscal year, GO-Biz will be awarding $243.3 million in tax credits. FIND A WORKSHOP!
BOTTOM LINE: GO-Biz hosts tax credit workshops to promote tax credit savings and the creation of full-time jobs in California.

SCAQMD releases the 2016
Air Quality Management Plan
On Wednesday, the Chamber provided public comment at one of the six Air Quality Management Plan (AQMP) scoping sessions held by the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD). At the meeting, the SCAQMD acknowledged their willingness to work with industry to achieve clean air goals and federal standards. The Chamber has continued to advocate for incentive based programs, innovative methodology to reduce emissions, cost-effective solutions, and technology and fuel neutral options for consumers.SEE THE PLAN.
BOTTOM LINE: The Chamber continues to work collaboratively with the SCAQMD to create practical solutions to reduce emissions.

Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners approves Delta Air Lines relocation to terminals 2 and 3 at LAX
The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners approved a lease and license agreement for Delta Air Lines to relocate from Terminals 5 and 6 to Terminals 2 and 3 at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
