Chamber urges members to vote "Yes" on Propositions 1A-1F
The May 19 California Special Election Ballot contains critical initiatives that will impact L.A. businesses and the economy for years to come. Props 1A-1F is a package of budget reforms designed to aid short-term economic recovery and enact long-term solutions to the budget crisis. They address many of the guiding principles for reform that the L.A. Area Chamber developed in June 2008. The Chamber encourages members to vote "Yes" on Tuesday. New board members join Chamber Board of Directors
The Chamber announced five new appointments Thursday to its Board of Directors including: Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) Chief Executive Officer, Art Leahy; Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP Partner, George Kieffer; Nestlé USA, Inc. Vice President, Kenneth W. Chamber small business owners get innovative

At the Chamber’s Small Business Owners Roundtable Wednesday, small business owners discussed innovative marketing strategies that can be used to accelerate recovery for small businesses including Twitter and LinkedIn. Edward Headington, Headington Media Group, said the challenge of moving forward in the mobile world is maintaining professionalism. "You must maintain your digital identity – it’s all out there, good or bad," Headington said. Leadership L.A. looks at different aspects of health care in L.A. County
The 2009 Fellows met at the newly-acquired USC University Hospital Friday to discuss health care access, delivery and reform, and the importance of building healthy communities. "There is a severe service capacity problem in Los Angeles," said Jim Lott, executive vice president, Hospital Association of Southern California. Lott stressed that innovative models are key to maintaining wellness in our communities. Fellows also spoke with Mitch Creem, CEO, USC University Hospital and USC Norris Cancer Hospital, about the university's acquisition of two private hospitals, which will attract new medical talent to Southern California.
