Chamber & California business leaders call on Congress to pass Dream Act legislation
The Chamber and fellow members of the Regional Economic Association Leaders (R.E.A.L.) Coalition of California joined a statewide press call Tuesday to express business support for passing a DREAM Act immediately. Participants highlighted the potential damage to local businesses and the national economy as a result of rescinding Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). Participating on the call along with the L.A. Area Chamber were the San Diego Regional Chamber, Inland Empire Economic Partnership, Orange County Business Council, and the Silicon Valley Leadership Group. READ MORE

Members of Congress join Chamber for Port of L.A. infrastructure tour
Congressman Garret Graves (Louisiana-6), chairman, and Congresswoman Grace Napolitano (CA-32), ranking member, of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment joined the Chamber and goods movement business leaders at the Port of Los Angeles for a boat tour of the facility. The participants and Members of Congress spoke about the Port's national contributions to the economy, its on-going projects, and funding for infrastructure maintenance and improvement programs. Following the tour, Congressman Graves visited the Chamber for a luncheon to discuss a federal infrastructure package.

Global e-Commerce market trends top Chamber Diplomat Group meeting
Members of the Chamber's Diplomatic & Commercial Officers Group heard from Chamber Board member Humphrey Ho, managing partner of Hylink USA and Mark Matsumoto, CEO of California ETEC, who provided an overview of global e-commerce market trends and key strategies being utilized in the China e-commerce model. By 2020, retail e-Commerce sales in the Asia Pacific are projected to reach $457 billion.
