California Imposes Statewide Curfew In Latest Measure To Combat Surging COVID-19 Cases
California Gov. Gavin Newsom yesterday announced the state's limited stay-at-home order requiring that all "non-essential work, movement and gatherings" stop between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. in counties in the purple tier. The order will take effect Saturday, Nov. 21 and remain in effect until 5:00 a.m. Dec. 21. The announcement follows a similar public health order issued by L.A. County as COVID-19 transmission surges and hospitalizations accelerate. CalOSHA Passes Emergency COVID-19 Regulations
The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (CalOSHA) yesterday evening unanimously approved a new temporary rule for workplace safety measures that will go into effect on Nov. 29, 2020. Businesses of all sizes are likely to be impacted, particularly those with employees onsite. These regulations carry the potential to increase costs to business owners. The Chamber joined the California Chamber of Commerce's coalition letter to express its concerns and request an extension for implementation. View the regulation text here.

Small Businesses Invited to Apply for New Loan Program
The California Rebuilding Fund is a new loan program built to support California's small business owners as they adapt, reopen safely and recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligibility requirements include owning a small business in California with 50 or fewer employees and having posted revenues under $2.5 million in 2019. Funds Raised to Support 2021 Scholarships
The Southern California Leadership Network (SCLN) on Wednesday exceeded its fundraising goal in its first-ever virtual Visionaries Awards. Event highlights included a panel discussion with the evening's three esteemed honorees and a live, interactive networking session with SCLN's extensive alumni network and partners. Funds raised will provide scholarships for under-represented emerging leaders to SCLN's 2021 fellowship programs. View the program here.

Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent Austin Beutner recently penned an op-ed on the importance of prioritizing the reopening of schools. The Chamber supports comprehensive state standards that would allow our schools to open safely. We are proud to have supported Measure RR, which will bring funding for facilities to our schools.
