L.A. Area Chamber Releases Economic Study on Tourism Motion
This week the L.A. Area Chamber launched the Alliance for Economic Fairness, which is a multiple-sector coalition to protect and support hospitality jobs and small businesses in the region. The coalition was formed to oppose the Los Angeles City Council's proposal to raise the minimum wage for hospitality workers to an unprecedented $30 per hour. Alongside the coalition, the Chamber also released an economic study in partnership with Oxford Economics. The study found that if the unprecedented tourism wage increase went into effect, 14,870 jobs across the Los Angeles economy could be lost and also a $1.1 billion decrease in visitor spending.
