The boys in blue are back! It was a grand Opening Day for the Los Angeles Dodgers on March 27. The afternoon began with a grand entrance that showcased the championship trophies from 2025 and 2024. United Airlines Shares Growth and Innovation at LAX
The Chamber joined L.A. business leaders, media, and community partners for an event hosted by Board Member, United Airlines, featuring CEO Scott Kirby. Attendees heard updates on United’s growth at LAX, fleet investments, and innovation strategy. Community members toured a new Dreamliner, sampled new premium amenities, and explored innovations from United vendors and partners. Chamber Hosts Women in Leadership at Getty House
To close out Women’s History Month, the Chamber held its Women in Leadership event at Getty House, the official residence of the Mayor of the City of Los Angeles. President & CEO Maria S. Salinas hosted a fireside chat with Mayor Karen Bass, who shared leadership insights from her career in public service. Next, Debbie Marshall, PNC Bank, moderated a panel featuring business leaders who are shaping the future of our economy, including Dana C. Chamber Joins National Briefing for America's 250th Celebration
The Chamber joined a national briefing for the private sector on America’s 250th anniversary celebration. The meeting was hosted by Rosie Rios, Chair of America250 and former U.S. Treasurer; Dr. DeAngela Burns-Wallace, Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation; Charles Stein, AT&T; Rhett Buttle, Public Private Strategies Institute; and Hanne LeCount, Concordia. The briefing highlighted the Private Sector Promise, a nonpartisan initiative designed to mobilize cross-sector collaboration and elevate business leadership in advancing shared national priorities. The goal is to leverage the momentum of the 250th anniversary to engage the private sector in shaping the country’s next chapter.

Governor Newsom Signs Executive Order to Increase Procurement AI Protections
Earlier this week, Governor Newsom signed an executive order to increase procurement requirements for AI companies seeking to do work with the state. The order sets new standards for AI companies and expands the state's use of GenAI to improve services. Designed to increase standards, the order requires the state to develop a plan to vet companies based in part on how they attest to and explain their policies and safeguards to protect the public in relation to their platforms. California Ports Experience Uneven Trade Volumes
The Port of Los Angeles and the Port of Long Beach continue to experience uneven trade flows amid global uncertainty. Shipping volumes from Asia, especially China, remain below normal levels as carriers cancel sailings and reduce container traffic. Although some imports are moving through the gateways, both ports are operating well under capacity. This trend is affecting transportation, warehousing, and logistics jobs across the region.

As TSA employees across regional airports face hardship during the DHS shutdown, members can support relief efforts through the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and LAWA’s Federal Worker Marketplace.
