Chamber Helps Small Businesses ‘Get in the Game’ at Procurement Fair
The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce presented the OneLA Procurement Fair: Get in the Game at California State University L.A., bringing together local business owners, buyers, and industry leaders to forge valuable connections and provide essential resources. The event highlighted matchmaking, connecting buyers and suppliers, a pivotal step in preparing small businesses for the contracting opportunities available ahead of global sporting events coming to the region. As one of the largest matchmaking events in Los Angeles, the procurement fair offered a dynamic setting for buyers and suppliers to connect and find a match.

Chamber Advocates Against Onerous AI Privacy Regulation
Last week, the L.A. Area Chamber participated in the California Privacy Protection Agency's (CPPA) informational meeting, which centered on draft regulations for automated decision-making technology, risk assessments, cybersecurity audits, insurance, and updates to existing privacy laws. The Chamber raised concerns about the potential negative impacts of these proposed regulations on the business community and is currently drafting a letter to the CPPA to outline these concerns and propose constructive solutions. The Chamber will continue to monitor this work.

Chamber Advocates for Streamlined Permitting at Assembly Hearing
The L.A. Area Chamber provided public comment at the Assembly Select Committee on Permitting Reform's informational hearing, chaired by Assemblymember Buffy Wicks, in Los Angeles. The hearing focused on infill housing and sustainable transportation. The Chamber urged the committee to prioritize process modernization, streamline permitting, coordinate funding, and incentivize the timely implementation of critical projects across the state. These reforms are essential to advancing housing and transportation solutions that benefit communities and drive economic growth.

Energy, Water & Environmental Sustainability Policy Council Discusses Key Regional Updates
The Chamber hosted our recent Energy, Water, and Environmental Sustainability Policy Council meeting, where several important regional updates were shared, including the Delta Conveyance Project and upcoming Board meeting. Christine Frey from the Metropolitan Water District discussed funding considerations for the final phase of pre-construction planning and permitting for the Delta Conveyance Project. Also discussed was the OurCounty Sustainability Plan with Victoria Simon, Chief Sustainability Officer for L.A. County, who shared insights on the 5-year refresh of the OurCounty Sustainability Plan and the opportunities for business community input.

Chamber Joins Delegation to Republic of Croatia
The Chamber joined the L.A. Delegation to Croatia alongside Councilmember Tim McOsker, Supervisor Janice Hahn, Ambassador Natalie Rayes, and representatives from the Port of Los Angeles, LADWP, Athens Services, and more. The delegation engaged in meaningful discussions with Croatia’s Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, Zagreb Mayor Tomislav Tomašević, the Croatian Olympic Committee, and Croatian Airlines, fostering stronger ties and exploring opportunities for collaboration.

The L.A. Area Chamber hosted a dynamic panel discussion on mental health and wellness as part of its Women in Leadership series. Led by Celeste Alleyne, Microsoft executive and founder of the Women’s Policy Council, the discussion covered strategies for setting boundaries, prioritizing self-care, and fostering work-life balance. The panel featured Dr. Supatra Tovar, Dr. Supatra Tovar & Associates, Denise Diaz, The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and Charlene Dimas-Peinado, Wellnest. They explored how organizations can better support employees with mental health resources and open dialogue.
