Mayor Bass Holds Lead in Mayoral Race
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is holding onto a lead in the city's 2026 mayoral primary as ballots continue to be counted. Mayor Bass was endorsed for Mayor by a coalition of business organizations, including the Chamber. Early results place Bass ahead of her closest challengers and on track to advance to the November runoff election. While the second runoff spot remains unsettled, the latest results reinforce Bass's position as the frontrunner heading into the November General Election.

Councilmembers Traci Park & Monica Rodriguez Win in the Primary Election
Councilmember Traci Park, City of Los Angeles District 11, won her seat on Tuesday by an overwhelming majority. Councilmember Monica Rodriguez of District 7 also secured another term on the City Council after running unopposed. We congratulate Councilmember Traci Park and Councilmember Monica Rodriguez on their wins!

Chamber Participates in LAUSD Business Advisory Council
LAUSD Acting Superintendent Andrés Chait convened the Business Advisory Council for the first time, providing an update on the district’s budget and anticipated challenges for the upcoming school year. The Chamber, as a member of LAUSD’s Small Business Advisory Group, participated in the briefing, which offered a look at the state of the district’s schools, upcoming budget challenges, and opportunities to strengthen engagement with the business community.

Chamber Convening Examines AI’s Impact on Talent, Creativity, and Content
The Chamber convened a joint meeting of its Tourism, Entertainment & Sports and Innovation & Technology Policy Councils for a timely conversation on artificial intelligence and its impact on Hollywood. The session featured Tom Capone, Agent of Emerging Technology at Creative Artists Agency (CAA), one of the world's leading entertainment and sports agencies. Tom brought a unique perspective on how the industry is navigating the opportunities and challenges AI presents — from talent representation and digital likeness rights to creativity, compensation, and the future of storytelling.

November 2026 Ballot Measures: GFA & LUCH Councils Weigh In
The Chamber's Government & Fiscal Affairs and Land Use, Construction & Housing Policy Councils met to review November 2026 ballot measures. The councils voted overwhelmingly to support the Building an Affordable California Act (CEQA permitting reform) and the Middle-Class Homeownership Bond Act, and to recommend opposition to the high net-worth individual tax measure (the “Billionaire Tax”). The councils also discussed other tax-related ballot measures for awareness. All recommendations advance to the full Board of Governors next week.
