Transportation Bills in State Assembly Attack Local Control
Although the Chamber supports practical efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve transportation infrastructure and safety, we oppose AB 6 and AB 7, authored by Assemblymember Laura Friedman. These bills remove local control of transportation and add burdensome state-mandated layers of bureaucracy to crucial transportation funding and local projects and jeopardize local sales tax funds. Both bills are on the Assembly floor with new amendments introduced with AB 7 this week. The Chamber delivered a letter outlining our concerns to the Assembly and is leading a statewide coalition letter. These bills will have a significant impact on transportation and mobility for businesses, the workforce, the supply chain, goods movement, and more. |
