GLOBAL ENGAGEMENT

Administration Revises Section 232 Tariffs Targeting Steel, Aluminum, and Copper

The April 2 overhaul of Section 232 tariffs, imposing a 25% duty on the full customs value of products, rather than just the metal content, of aluminum, steel, and copper derivatives, will likely increase costs for Los Angeles manufacturers that rely on imported metals, while potentially boosting domestic metal producers. For the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, this could trigger front-loading of imports, straining logistics, or a decline in trade volume for affected products.
