Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass signed an executive directive this week supporting small business creation and growth. The directive creates the Los Angeles Business Steering Committee, led by Rachel Freeman, Deputy Mayor of Business and Economic Development, to identify burdensome processes and fees which impede small business development and growth in the city. This approach by the Mayor will help reinforce the region's competitiveness, and create the infrastructure to attract new firms and lower entrepreneurial barriers for homegrown talent. Anti-Development Wildlife Ordinance Moves in City Council
The City of Los Angeles Planning and Land Use Management Committee passed an amended Wildlife Ordinance this week. The Chamber previously opposed this measure, as it would impose significant new development restrictions for "pilot area" properties located in the western Santa Monica Mountains and Hollywood Mountains. Over time, the city would expand beyond the initial pilot area, further impacting property values and local economies. The Chamber is advocating against the restrictive development measures as the ordinance goes before the full City Council. |
