Chamber and Board Leaders Welcome U.S. Chamber CEO for Discussion on Business Growth and Trends

This week, the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, Board Chair Andy Park, and board leaders from across a wide range of industries welcomed Suzanne Clark, President & CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, for a roundtable on key business trends and economic dynamics shaping Los Angeles. Topics included drivers of California's affordability crisis, the state's broader economic story, and the opportunities and challenges facing our business community. The Chamber is grateful for Suzanne’s continued partnership and to the board members for sharing perspectives on how collaboration can help businesses thrive.

 

Mayor Bass Outlines Economic Efforts in Mayoral Debate

During Tuesday night's mayoral debate, Mayor Karen Bass linked economic recovery to public safety improvements, wildfire rebuilding efforts, and addressing homelessness's impacts on commercial corridors. She noted efforts to increase housing production, the importance of the investment in the Los Angeles Convention Center, and prioritizing downtown L.A. revitalization. A key focus of the discussion centered on retaining film and television production in Los Angeles, with Bass underscoring the industry's role in supporting middle-class jobs, small businesses, and the regional economy. Chamber Attends California Energy Policy Forum

The Chamber recently attended California Energy Policy Risk, Realities and The Road Ahead, a timely forum examining the policy decisions shaping California's oil and gas landscape and their impact on consumers, businesses, and the economy. Moderated by WSPA President & CEO Jodie Muller, the expert panel featured engineer and energy literacy advisor Ronald Stein, as well as USC Professor Michael Mische. Discussions focused on drivers of fuel price volatility, structural challenges in California's energy policy, and strategic roadmaps toward greater energy security and a more reliable, affordable fuel supply for California's future.

 

U.S.–Canada Trade Discussions Highlight Opportunities for LA Businesses

This week, the Chamber convened its latest Global Initiatives Policy Council for a special roundtable discussion between Sylvie Bédard, Consul General a.i. of Canada in Los Angeles, and Chamber members on the proposed USMCA renewal and the economic benefits of trade between Canada and the Los Angeles region. The Chamber is deeply appreciative of the Consul General’s insights and partnership.

County Highlights Coordinated Approach to Homelessness Services

The Chamber participated in Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath's Business Leaders Roundtable discussion alongside Sarah Mahin, Director of the County’s new Department of Homeless Services and Housing (HSH). Director Mahin discussed the County’s efforts to build a more transparent, accountable, and coordinated system, and Measure A goals. She will also be the featured speaker at the Chamber's Pancakes & Politics series on June 23.

Global Leaders Address Trade, Affordability, and Supply Chain Risks at Milken Conference

The Chamber participated in the 2026 Milken Institute Global Conference, featuring a wide range of sessions and panels. These included a discussion on affordability for American families, with participation from U.S. Chamber CEO Suzanne Clark, who met a day before with several Board members. Additional sessions addressed renewal of the USMCA and examined how the wars in Ukraine and Iran affect trade, commerce, and supply continuity worldwide.

Port of LA Free Harbor Boat Tours This Saturday

The Port of Los Angeles will offer free public harbor tours on May 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Wilmington to celebrate the 100th anniversary of World Trade Week. Visitors can explore the nation’s busiest port and learn about global trade. Tours are first-come, first-served, with free parking and all ages welcome. Learn more here.
