World Cup Kicks Off, and Los Angeles Is Ready to Win
The FIFA World Cup is here, and Los Angeles is playing offense. Today’s opening match in Mexico City marks the start of 39 days of the world’s most-watched sporting event, and Los Angeles is one of its biggest stages. On Friday, SoFi Stadium hosts the U.S. Men’s National Team opener, bringing global fans into our business community’s backyard. For LA’s hotels, restaurants, retailers, and small businesses, this is home-field advantage. The LA Chamber is proud to show up for moments like this, from the World Cup to LA28. Primary Election Results Shape November General Election
Following last week's primary election, several Los Angeles races have been decided. Mayor Karen Bass and Councilmember Nithya Raman advanced to a runoff election for mayor, while incumbent City Councilmembers Monica Rodriguez, Traci Park, and Tim McOsker secured re-election to their seats. The Chamber's L.A. Jobs PAC endorsed Mayor Bass for re-election and backed Rodriguez, Park, and McOsker in their successful campaigns. The Chamber looks forward to working with these leaders to strengthen the region's business community and advance economic priorities.

Chamber Joins Mayor Bass for Re-Election Kickoff
President & CEO Maria S. Salinas joined fellow business and civic leaders at a press conference to support the Mayor’s campaign for the November election. Mayor Bass noted the reduction in homelessness for two consecutive years, the reduction in crime, and advocacy for the film and television industry. The event was hosted by East End Studios in Boyle Heights with several members from the entertainment industry on hand to support the Mayor. Mayor Bass noted the work in bringing business and labor together to support the modernization of the Los Angeles Convention Center. The Chamber joined the business community in endorsing Mayor Bass for re-election.

Rally LA Initiative Officially Launches
The Chamber and Deloitte officially launched Rally LA, an initiative designed to expand opportunities for small businesses through the region’s upcoming sports and entertainment events. LA28 CEO Reynold Hoover opened the event by emphasizing the importance of collaboration in maximizing the economic benefits of these global events. Chamber 2nd Vice Chair and Deloitte Managing Partner Terry Feit highlighted Rally LA’s role in connecting local businesses to resources and long-term growth opportunities leading up to and beyond the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Voters Voice Critical Priorities on Local Ballot Measures
Following the Primary Election last week, the County and City of LA are rapidly counting votes on key ballot measures. In the City of Los Angeles, the clerk's office has called the passage of Los Angeles Measure TC, expanding the list of fees, goods, and services to which the City's 14% transient occupancy tax can be applied. Measure TC passed with 57.58% of the vote. Meanwhile in the County of Los Angeles, Measure ER is currently likely to pass by a razor's edge. As officials complete the vote count, the latest report indicates that the yes campaign is ahead by 24,436 votes. The Chamber will closely monitor and report on these measures and how they will impact the business community.

RETAP Marks Historic Success: $3.4M in Export Sales Achieved
The Chamber Foundation’s Regional Export Training and Assistance Program (RETAP) delivered strong results, securing $3.45 million in direct sales and $53 million in contracts for 46 local manufacturers. This success was made possible by a grant from the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GoBiz). Participating companies have now transitioned into the EDC SBDC Global Trade Program to continue expanding export opportunities.
