L.A. County Public Health Director Dr. Ferrer Briefs Chamber

The State of California ordered a statewide mask mandate for indoor public spaces which went into effect Wednesday of this week. The order was made in response to rising case rates of the COVID-19 Omicron variant. On the day the statewide mandate was announced, the L.A. Area Chamber hosted L.A. County Public Health Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer for a special briefing on the pandemic’s impact on L.A. County residents and businesses.

Dr. Ferrer explained that, due to the continuation of high community transmission, mask mandates, vaccinations, and safety protocols are needed to ensure cases don’t continue to surge. Currently, most cases in L.A. County are attributed to the delta variant with omicron variant case rates expected to rise. The Chamber joins with the Department of Public Health in continuing to encourage residents to get vaccinated. Watch a recording of the briefing here. PasscodeY1B$4Q@Z
