Over 400 business, civic and international trade leaders convened to highlight the benefits of global trade in the local, state and national economy at the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce’s 98th World Trade Week Southern California Conference. We were excited to celebrate global trade in the City of Long Beach.

World Trade Week Committee Chair Dr. Noel Hacegaba welcomed attendees and gave powerful remarks on the ever-evolving global trade landscape, noting geopolitical shifts that are currently reshaping trade routes. City of Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson welcomed guests to Long Beach and spoke of the goals in global trade for the city.

This year, the Chamber recognized the following honorees:

• Corinne Murat, Director of Government Affairs of Mattel, Inc. received the Stanley T. Olafson Award for her long-term contributions in expanding global trade opportunities throughout Southern California.
• Captain J. Kipling (Kip) Louttit, accepted the Bob Kleist Leadership Award on behalf of the Marine Exchange and Vessel Tracking, which was recognized for its leadership on the development of global trade in Southern California.

California Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis was joined by L.A. Area Chamber President & CEO Maria S. Salinas for a fireside chat about her vision for state competitiveness, workforce development and the supply chain.

U.S. Trade & Development Agency Director, Enoh T. Ebong highlighted the agency’s work to collaborate and share information about the “Making Global Local” initiative.

The program concluded with a panel discussion, "Shaping the Future Together: An Outlook on Global Trade and the Path to Get Us There," panelists included Amy Grat, Stephanie Graves, Vince Iacopella and Dr. Nick Vyas, who shared with attendees their expert perspective on the future of global trade.
