Celebrating Business and Special Olympics World Games
January 27, 2015
by Gary Toebben
This Thursday, Jan. 29, more than 1,500 Chamber members and guests will celebrate business leadership in the City and County of Los Angeles at the Chamber’s Inaugural Dinner, presented by Bank of America. As part of the program, we will highlight the 7,000 athletes that will visit L.A. this summer for the Special Olympics World Games that will begin on July 25 at the Coliseum.
The Special Olympics World Games will be the largest athletic event in the world in 2015. It will also be the largest athletic event in L.A. since the ’84 Olympic Games. The athletes and their coaches, parents and friends, will experience the warmth and hospitality of our community. In turn, Angelenos will be inspired by the persistence, hard work and positive attitude of the athletes who travel from around the globe to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
At the Inaugural Dinner, we will celebrate the business, civic and philanthropic leadership of Wallis Annenberg; Charlie Woo; Comcast/NBC Universal; Noel Massie, UPS: and Bill Caswell, Kaiser Permanente. Each of these individuals and companies have a deep commitment to Los Angeles and they are embolic of thousands of businesses who call the City and County of Los Angeles home.
Our region has a tremendous cadre of businesses who employ millions of area residents and generously share their time, talents and financial resources with non-profits and social service organizations. We will celebrate those businesses on Thursday evening. They are responsible for the growth of our city, county and region and their presence makes L.A. an exceptional place to live and work.
And that's The Business Perspective.
