A Bold Statewide Advocacy Agenda

Advocating on public policy that impacts our business community can take on many forms; evaluating legislation, providing guidance on ballot measures and conducting face to face meeting with policy makers. The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce’s ACCESS series is designed to get our members and partners in front of lawmakers. This year, we look to expand our footprint in the policy arena in Sacramento. We are pleased with our new Governor and his new administration’s outreach to the L.A. Area Chamber.  Our goal is to engage and represent the view of the L.A. business community.

I’m excited to work with Gov. Newsom’s administration and extend invitations across various departments to join us during our visit. The Governor’s agenda is big and bold in global trade, workforce, small business and education – all top priorities for us. It is also important that we advocate for members of our own community here in L.A. to serve in the administration and bring their perspective from this region to Sacramento.  I am pleased we’ve made recommendations to the State’s departments, commissions and boards.

On May 14and 15, I will lead the Chamber’s ACCESS Sacramento delegation during our annual trip. With a focus on statewide current topics, including CEQA reform, privacy law, business retention programs, early childhood education and infrastructure spending, our delegation will meet with lawmakers to speak on our priorities.

On Tuesday evening, we’ll host a reception for our guests and members of the L.A. County Delegation. Then, Wednesday morning we’ll host a town hall style breakfast program, where our members will have the opportunity to meet with senior level members of the Newsom Administration to hear about their priorities in their new roles and how the L.A. business community can collaborate with them.

Confirmed guests include:

  • Aneesh Raman, Senior Advisor, Economic Development Strategy & External Affairs, Governor’s Office of Business & Economic Development
  • Bud Colligan, Senior Advisor, International Affairs & Trade, Governor’s Office of Business & Economic Development
  • Isabel Guzman, Director, Office of the Small Business Advocate
  • Kris Perry, Senior Advisor to the Governor, Implementation of Early Childhood Development Initiatives, Deputy Secretary for Health & Human Services Agency

I invite you to join us for ACCESS Sacramento – early bird registration closes this Friday, April 26. And if you’re unable to participate in that trip, I encourage you to join us at an upcoming policy council meeting – your engagement and voice will help amplify all of our statewide advocacy efforts.
