Assembly Blue Ribbon Commission on Early Childhood Education releases final report

Sonia Campos-Rivera, the Chamber’s senior director of education policy & public affairs, spoke at a press conference with Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon, releasing the final report of the Assembly Blue Ribbon Commission on Early Childhood Education. The report lays out key recommendations to Gov. Gavin Newsom and his administration to implement legislation that would improve early child care learning and education in California. Campos-Rivera, who sits on the commission, spoke to how the business community is an integral part of this process, emphasizing the need for employers to ensure working parents have access to affordable and high-quality child care for their children. “Child care issues are a big factor for many employees that results in turnover and absenteeism in the workplace,” she said. “We are thrilled to see the recommendations set forth are ones that seek to provide solutions for working parents and employers while simultaneously setting up CA to continue thriving as the fifth largest economy in the world.”
