Carlos J. Valderrama, vice chair of the Los Angeles Regional Export Council (LARExC), joined L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti at City Hall to welcome the Honorable Ha Kim Ngoc, Vietnamese ambassador to the United States. Valderrama highlighted the working relationship between the Vietnamese Department of Trade Promotion (VIETRADE) and LARExC in promoting bilateral trade and investment. This strategic relationship was formalized by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during the visit of Mayor Garcetti to Vietnam in July 2018. The Mayor stressed the importance of deepening cooperation between the City of Los Angeles and Vietnam. In 2018, Vietnam ranked as the Los Angeles region’s fourth largest trading partner with a total bilateral trade of more than $21 billion.
