On March 14, the Chamber, in partnership with Bank of America, Corrections to College California and the Vera Institute of Justice, hosted a breakfast briefing on the importance and significant benefits to the business community of expanding access to postsecondary education for justice-involved individuals. In response to the Investing in Futures and Don't Stop Now reports, the Chamber hosted a panel discussion on the established economic benefits of higher education in prison in areas such as public safety, employment and the state economy. Included on the panel were individuals with first-hand experience with fair-chance hiring programs, such as the Chamber's Smart Justice program, who provided insight into the challenges they have faced or seen in higher education and the workforce.
