The County of Los Angeles' Chief Sustainability Officer Gary Gero, along with Sustainability Program Directors Kristen Pawling and Rita Kampalath, discussed the County's draft sustainability plan, Our County. The plan was developed to be an aspirational, comprehensive, long-term plan that is regional in nature and actionable. Gero and his team outlined the plan's 12 goals, how to read the plan and its 150-plus strategies to guide sustainability efforts countywide. The Our County plan is envisioned as a strategic plan to guide the development of department-level ordinances. Members discussed the ways the plan would impact the business community, including its goal to achieve a fossil fuel free future. May 24 is the last day to submit comment on the draft plan.
