Chamber advises State Superintendent Tony Thurmond on college affordability

Juana Hernandez, senior manager of postsecondary initiatives, represented the Chamber in Sacramento on Monday, July 8, for a statewide meeting on college affordability. The College Affordability Transition Team Working Group is one of 13 transition team working groups that are advising State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond and the California Department of Education on short- and long-term goals. The College Affordability working group is focusing on strategies to increase financial aid filing, improve financial aid literacy for students and families, better address students' unmet financial needs and serve special student populations, including undocumented immigrant students and foster youth.
