Leading experts on public education join the Chamber to discuss charter schools

On Aug. 9, the Chamber brought together key policy experts on public education in California to share their thoughts on charter schools coexisting within the system. The Chamber’s Education & Workforce Development Council gathered more than 40 leaders to listen to Edgar S. Zazueta, senior director of policy & governmental relations at the Association of California School Administrators, and Cristina de Jesus, president and CEO of Green Dot Public Schools California, to discuss Gov. Gavin Newsom’s California Charter School Policy Task Force recommendations. Zazueta, who sits on the task force, emphasized how imperative it was for the task force to focus on serving all students. "The task force had to recognize what the needs are of students and teachers from an academic community standpoint." This timely discussion was essential as we collectively seek to improve the educational outcomes of California's public-school students.
