Chamber co-convenes regional workforce development partners to explore launch of new apprenticeships

Last Friday, the Chamber’s Center for Education Excellence & Talent Development, in partnership with Goodwill Southern California and the Los Angeles Orange County (LA/OC) Regional Consortia of California Community Colleges, hosted a regional convening on apprenticeships with 60 stakeholders in education and workforce development from across the region. Speakers included John Dunn, assistant secretary for apprenticeship and worker training at the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency, Tracy DiFilippis, apprenticeship coordinator for sector strategies at Goodwill Southern California, and Karen Childers, L.A. County regional director for the LA/OC Regional Consortia. Attendees explored regional collaborative approaches to apprenticeships on six sectors: advanced manufacturing, bioscience, construction, financial services, health care and information communications technology/digital media arts.
