WorkforceReady in action

Earlier this year, Bixel Exchange, the Center for Innovation & Technology at the Chamber, partnered with Cornerstone OnDemand Foundation on the rollout of their WorkforceReady pilot program. Since then, 67 internship program participants have had the opportunity to take online courses through WorkforceReady to strengthen and refine their soft skills to complement their technical skills gained in school or internships. The participants have been taking courses to prepare for interviews, internships and eventually the tech workforce. Some of the topics covered include professional writing, implicit bias training and tips on how to adjust to a new job. To make the pilot as beneficial as possible, Bixel Exchange has been holding focus groups which offer participants the unique experience of practicing their online learning in-person and help refine the online curriculum for future program participants. The first round of the pilot ends and the second round begins on Sept. 5.
