Educare Los Angeles at Long Beach welcomes new school year

On Sept. 3, Educare Los Angeles at Long Beach celebrated its first day of the new 2019-2020 school year. One of two Educare schools in California, Educare Los Angeles at Long Beach welcomed 182 children and families, up from 159 children last year. Educare is a high-quality, early care education program in north Long Beach formed in 2017 through a public-private partnership between the L.A. Area Chamber, Long Beach Unified School District and the broader Educare Learning Network, serving Head Start eligible children and families across Long Beach. The school is a demonstration site that extracts lessons from best practices and shares them with the broader early childhood education field in order to inform policy conversations and increase access to quality 0-5 programs across L.A. County and California. Educare also welcomed new teaching staff and family support specialists in order to address additional child needs given the increase in enrollment. As Educare continues to grow, it will also continue drawing out key lessons learned on four key pillars of the Educare model: embedded professional development, quality teaching practices, intensive family engagement and data utilization.
