Kicking off the first Education & Workforce Development Council of 2020 last Friday, the Chamber welcomed Jeff Bell, Education Program Budget Manager at the California Department of Finance, and Edgar Cabral, Deputy Legislative Analyst at the Legislative Analyst's Office. The two experts dove into Gov. Gavin Newsom’s budget proposal, highlighting key education investments for fiscal year 2020-21. Cabral noted that this year's budget has a focus on teacher pipeline investments that will address teacher shortages in California. There is also proposed funding for undocumented students in higher education. The Chamber is eager to learn how Gov. Newsom's budget will continue to uplift students and educators in California.
