Chamber Supports Delta Conveyance Project

by Center for Business Advocacy
On Wednesday, the Chamber spoke in support of a delta conveyance project that secures California's water future, protects against natural disasters and keeps water affordable for businesses and residents. In January, the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) issued a Notice of Preparation for the new project, the first step in developing the environmental impact report (EIR) for a future water conveyance system from the Bay Delta. Wednesday's event was the only scheduled scoping meeting in Southern California.
During the meeting, DWR staff gave a presentation on the project background, proposed project description, timeline for the initial outreach and EIR. DWR emphasized that this delta conveyance project is different than its two-tunnel predecessor, California WaterFix, though some documentation and studies will be used if they are appropriate.
