Innovation & Technology Council Discusses CCPA and AB 5

The Chamber's Innovation & Technology Council kicked off their first meeting of the year with Jordan Crenshaw, Senior Policy Council at the United States Chamber of Commerce. Crenshaw gave an update on the impacts of the California Consumer Privacy Act that went into effect earlier this year and federal-level data privacy legislation. After his presentation, the Council also considered the Protect App-Based Drivers ballot initiative that would amend AB 5 to only allow drivers of app-based companies to remain as independent contractors. The body did not recommend a position at this time and this ballot measure will now be considered at the Government & Fiscal Affairs Council. Lastly, the body did a review of the policy priorities for the Council and heard updates from Bixel Exchange's Startup LAunch and L.A. Tech Talent Pipeline teams. SEE THE PHOTOS.
