State of the State Address

Earlier this week, California Governor Gavin Newsom delivered the annual State of the State address from Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. The Governor spoke of the harsh toll of lives lost to COVID-19 as well as the steps taken to address the pandemic. The remarks reflected optimism for a post-COVID California.
Governor Newsom discussed how vaccine distribution efforts are reaching underserved communities, which could spark the expansion of reopening plans. He also cited the $2.6 billion being utilized in California’s Small Business Grant Fund, which has been uniquely beneficial to women and minority owned small businesses. This is great news for the Los Angeles region, which has the largest concentration of women and minority owned businesses in the state.

This week, the American Rescue Plan was signed by President Biden. Our communities are poised to benefit greatly from this COVID-19 relief bill with funds available for vaccines, school reopenings, small businesses, restaurants, nonprofits, families, and workers who have lost too much due to the pandemic.
The future is bright after a year of unbridled uncertainty. As we begin to reopen, we look forward to seeing public and private organizations come together to ensure we emerge a stronger and more thriving region than before.
