Consumers Shopping for Insurance Now Have More Help Enrolling in Medi-Cal and Other Programs Thanks to Health Net

Even though more people are signing up for health coverage through Covered California this year, California’s most vulnerable populations still face significant barriers to accessing quality care.

In California, an estimated 1.2 million uninsured people are now eligible for financial help through Covered California. These individuals may now also qualify for low-cost or no-cost coverage through Medi-Cal.

Looking for enrollment assistance

Enrolling isn’t easy for everyone. That’s why Health Net committed $1.9 million in grants to help local Medi-Cal providers and others educate local residents about Medi-Cal benefits. The company awarded grants to a variety of organizations including:

  • Federally Qualified Health Centers
  • Community Based Organizations
  • Clinic consortia in California

As part of the company’s Community & Infrastructure Investment program, Health Net awarded 24 grants to recipients across the state. Each recipient received a grant up to $90,000. They are using the funds to help increase equitable access and enrollment in Medi-Cal and other programs across California over the next 13-months.

This grant initiative is part of Health Net’s larger investment program, which has dedicated more than $65 million to bridging the divide in access, equity and quality of care.

Recipients are expected to use the funding to:

  •
Amplify awareness of available benefits.
  • Educate local communities about the importance of health care coverage.
  • Help newly eligible people enroll in health care coverage.
  • Assist new enrollees in healthcare system comprehension.
  • Support existing members through the coverage renewal process.
