The Future Is Here

The Chamber is celebrating its 135th year of business leadership in the region. It’s an important milestone for an organization that has a deep legacy of impact in Los Angeles. As we celebrate the here and now, we also reflect on what the next 100 years will bring. In a region where creativity and innovation flourish, we recognize that our next 100 years will look very different.

We must be ready for an “innovation revolution”; we must be ready for the technologies that are changing and will continue to evolve the way we work, live, and play.

This year’s Chamber Inaugural celebration is themed “The Future is Here,” it recognizes Los Angeles as the epicenter for creativity and innovation that is shaping not only our region’s future, but the state and nation. The future of work and the impact on the workforce, business and economy — it’s all being developed here in Los Angeles — and the Chamber is laser-focused on helping guide us through a responsible transformation.

This means, we must be a region that is competitive and attractive for businesses to create and grow quality jobs here, to build centers of excellence in aerospace, logistics, transportation, and many other sectors who call Los Angeles home. We need to invest in a competitive workforce ready to handle the technologies, automation, and the metaverse, all things which already exist today. Businesses have always been committed to workforce readiness, but, today, we need to deepen our engagement to support and inspire the next generation for the jobs of the future. Finally, we need to work with our policymakers and our elected officials at all levels of government to collaborate and welcome innovation to help solve problems, foster a resilient workforce, and create the systems that work for all.

The Chamber is a trusted partner, a convener, and catalyst of the ideas and solutions that will take us into the next 100 years. While there is considerable work ahead, this transformation is about bringing an equitable economy to deliver on our vision of A Thriving Region for All.
