California’s Ready for APEC

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) was founded as a regional economic forum to foster economic integration and prosperity among its 21 member economies in the Asia-Pacific region. APEC serves as an influential platform for dialogue and collaboration between the U.S. and Pacific Coast countries in both North America and Asia, while also providing global opportunities for businesses in our region.

APEC's focus on promoting a sustainable future through addressing climate change, digitalization, and fostering a resilient business environment provides businesses with opportunities to showcase their innovation with organizations from around the world.

APEC's emphasis on interconnectedness aligns with the Chamber's belief that the Los Angeles region is a vital hub for international trade and commerce. The region's strategic location and advanced infrastructure make it an ideal gateway for businesses seeking to expand their presence in the Asia-Pacific region. APEC's emphasis on revitalizing cross-border connections and facilitating sustainable travel and commerce creates new avenues for regional Los Angeles businesses to establish and strengthen partnerships with APEC member economies.

The United States will host the 2023 APEC CEO Summit in San Francisco in November, a sign of the long-standing commitment to the region. Like last year’s Summit of the Americas, APEC will be an impressive gathering of leaders from the 21 APEC member economies.

Exports of U.S. goods total 60 percent to APEC member economies and seven of the top 10 trading partners are APEC members. We look forward to supporting this important convening in California, themed “Creating a Resilient and Sustainable Future for All.”
