Lyft is partnering with our communities to best serve Angelenos

L.A. Business This Week 5/15/20

Lyft’s mission is “to reconnect people through transportation and bring communities together.” During this time of crisis, Lyft has doubled down on its efforts to provide transportation to those most in need and keep our communities connected. Lyft is partnering with our communities to best serve Angelenos:

  • Partnering with LA City Councilman Harris-Dawson to provide deliveries from more than 20 local restaurants to approximately 500 seniors in need in South LA. Drivers living in the district will deliver 8,500 fresh meals to seniors, while also supporting restaurants in the area that are struggling to stay afloat during this crisis. • Providing all transportation costs to get DV survivors to safe accommodations in the City of Los Angeles.
  • Collaborating with LAUSD to ensure that lower-income students who depend on school meals have reliable transportation to meal distribution sites. Lyft has donated $25,000 in free rides, which will be distributed directly by LAUSD to families in need to get to and from meal pick-up sites. We anticipate that this pilot program will help more than 500 LAUSD families.
  • Provided free ride codes to St. Barnabas Senior Services.
  • Committing $6.5 million to COVID-19 response efforts, focusing specifically on initiatives that support drivers and vulnerable communities—this includes dedicating nearly $1.5 million to cleaning supplies and protective equipment that is being distributed in the parking lot of Lyft’s hub in Los Angeles on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
