Industry-Specific Convenings to Engage the Business Community Around COVID-19 Recovery

The Los Angeles County Economic and Business Development team will be hosting a series of industry-specific convenings to engage the business community around COVID-19 recovery efforts. The convenings are aligned with the Board’s mandate for WDACS to implement the Los Angeles County Works Initiative, as detailed in the Roadmap to Economic Recovery Motion.
These convenings will allow the Economic and Business Development team to engage the business community, identify opportunities for rapid reemployment, and support our businesses with an inclusive economic development strategy. The convenings are focused on the workforce needs of each particular industry, and we have invited HR professionals from each industry to the convenings as well, with a long term eye toward recovery strategies to reach full employment.
They worked with their economic modeling team as well as LAEDC’s team to identify the most promising industries for job regrowth, therefore opting to convene the following:
- Social Enterprise/Nonprofit: Thursday, June 18, from 11am – 12:30pm (RSVP)
- Trade and Logistics: Wednesday, June 24th from 9-11 am (RSVP)
- Healthcare: Thursday, June 25th from 10-noon (RSVP)
- Infrastructure: Thursday, June 25th from 2-4 pm (RSVP)
- Aerospace: Friday, June 26th from 9-11 am (RSVP)
These will be small, guided group discussions. Please note that they will also leverage departmental partners (such as LACDA, DCBA, DPH, DRP, DPW, Arts and Culture, and TTC) to be in these meetings to answer technical questions.
